Reach Higher, 2023, Recycled copper, reused glass beads, stones, 11.5 x 6 x 10 in.

Heartsearching was made with recycled fabrics, scraps from old projects, and found organic materials. I created a weaving loom from an old picture frame that I then wove into with these materials. I wove in dried saffron and marigolds relating to my culture as well as copper strips. I created a blend from rich color to natural organic materials. This symbolizes a bridge between my two worlds- with one foot in reality of our created systems, and the other in a spiritual realm with a connection to naturally holistic being. The bottom edge of Heartsearching is lined with strung beads and shells combining the contrasting colors and styles. Though each addition can be seen as separate, they are woven together to be one.
