Inmopatla, 2023, Sterling silver, fair-mined 18k royal gold, shibushi, brass, chrysocolla, 5 x 6 x 1 in.
Inmopatla is a word from the Mexica language, nahuatl, meaning to change or transform. Inmopatla was created with ethically sourced sterling silver, fair mined 18k royal gold, and shibushi I made from recycled silver and recycled copper. The wings, clouds, chain and tail feathers were fabricated and engraved. Gold details the edges of the wings. The cocoon and women were hand carved and cast with lost wax casting. Chase and repousse developed the moon in the lunar eclipse. The shibuishi alloy can be seen in the sun and tail feathers/ feet of Inmopatla. Each patina and polish was carefully thought out to showcase the varied layers that were then riveted together with tubing to create the final result.
